Reading reading reading

jack has been reading for like 3 hours and I'm bored out of my gourd. Here is a poem I found while looking through some old xanga posts, hope you like it, it has no title.

Could my hands reach so far

as to touch the face of love defined,

would doubt dismiss from this,

a child of Him, Most Holy God Divine?

or would the dark of this child's heart prevail?-

tearing faith to broken and stale, leaving hands

that once could touch Him Most Real

full of sad heart, without joy to steal?

Unsure of stregnth of frail faith,

this I beg, God of All Things,

Bind my heart in faith to You,

My God

My King of Kings.

Shades of Blue

Perhaps a hard one to swallow but something I feel strongly about:

Shades of Blue by: Sarah Dixon

I grew up with those of a royal colored skin,
my mother was a tone of navy,
my father was a hue of sky.

And I always believed that all blues are the same within,
differences are merely a phantasm of the eye.

Once a shade of royal asked me for some pocket change.
I said, "I'm sorry ma'am, there's nothing I can do."
She called me a racist, which was an unfair exchange,
and in my mind I screamed,
"Who's the true racist? Me or you?"

The Hills

Poetry Rules:
1. If you have a single thought, good or bad, post it.
2. All constructive criticism welcome
3. You may not say a poem is good or bad without saying why.
4. Right now I'm in the writer's block of the century. I seriously have about 5 pieces that I actually like. So, in order to help me, leave a topic for me to write about- not a silly one and nothing broad like God or love, be specific.

The Hills
By: Sarah Dixon

Through gray day
I look to see it's end
-Where golden rays are chased
over dirt's unkempt hills and
stray flits of light reflect the
slipping of each burning rod
from hands that hope to keep
the hills from taking.
Though I push through fog's thickness,
I cannot see past the burn scarred hands
that hold the dense curtain open for the view.

I scream of day to but whisper
whether love has been slipped
into her hands to feed to me as I
curse the thought of seduction powers
to prostitute life as they please,
yet warn one who begs for signs:
-accede to charity, make nothing
of life that's a staggering fool,
who laughs through sobs
and raises his faithless voice
at every first cloud of morning.

I beg of God, do tell,
do raise fog's thickness and promise
to loose my hands from the unbearable heat
of today's last rid of goldenness
-if next day shows whether it holds love for me
or tells I should loose my heart from holding what
day's maker will not give and wait for another
rising over dirt's blessed and stealing hills.

It's the End of the World as We Know it

Well, my world fell apart today. It started off on a high note as I was named the Tomato champion. I got a prize for being the champ:

When I was little, I had a doll from the show Rainbow Brite. In fact, I still have her- she is at my dad's house or I would take a picture. She was a little Fuzzy round ball with stars for ears and a little ball for a nose and long legs. Eric and Kendra (my brother and sister) once got mad at me and decided that it would be a good idea to cut off her ears and nose.

My prize for being the "Tomato Champion" was "StarBrite's Revenge."

I loved my prize and laughed very very hard. But, I found something peculiar about it. You see, the character I had grown to love was depitcted as a horse who very much resembled Star Lite and not the character I knew as Starbrite.

Come to find out, There is no character named Star Brite. The doll I have, is, in fact, a "Sprite" named Twink and it's a boy. My world is forever changed.

Dear Scott,
Thank you very much for my prize. I regret to inform you that the character you drew is not my beloved "Starbrite," but one of her co-stars named Starlite. I've recently learned that there is no "starbrite" but some goofy thing named "Twink." Your prize both made me extremely happy and extremely sad. I hope to do well in the next round and am aiming to win- a win for "StarBrite."

Invisible Friend

These are the rules from here one out:
1. If you look at this and have a thought about it, good or bad, you must comment.
2. You may not say a comment such as "I like it," I hate it," I loathe it," etc. without leaving why. (You must say, I like the shade of green on his hand.)
3. I'd prefer you left more specific comments than the example cited in rule 2- I really want your thoughts on it!
4. I will give points ...Just kidding. Scott I wouldn't rip you off like that.

Happy commenting.

Me and My Shadow

Today I woke up at almost 9 to a little grin and a tiny little hand grabbing my nose and then some laughing. Right now I am looking at a semi fussy baby during tummy time. He is wearing a onesie with cars on it that's says "Vroom" and some hand me down shorts from his cousin Joe that are blue with a car on them, they're almost too small. When I stand Jack up, he looks like he's trying to accentuate his shoulders by wearing shorts that hug his waist, like a body builder, one who refuses to roll over.

I am going to start watching a baby here a couple days a week in July. She's 3 month old, her name is Zola. I will continue freelancing but cut down on the number of clients I take. It's just not making us enough money. Jack is going on full time at his hotel and he put in his 2 week notice at PF Changs last night. We will miss the discounts.

I thought about taking a more literary approach to this blog; so, I will post again soon with some art or poetry which will be up for discussion. I'll repost when I think the discussion is done. Peace out.

Fleeing Scylla and Charybdis

When I told my husband that I was thinking of starting a blogspot he said, "of course you are." I'm a sucker for trends, what can I say. I was also jealous of all of Eric's comments.
